Europe's first large-scale battery recycling facility has officially commenced operations in Munich, Germany. Operated by Northvolt, a Swedish battery manufacturer, the plant is designed to process lithium-ion batteries from electric vehicles and consumer electronics, recovering valuable materials such as lithium, nickel, cobalt, and manganese.

The facility aims to address the growing demand for sustainable battery production and reduce Europe's reliance on imported raw materials. By implementing advanced hydrometallurgical processes, Northvolt expects to achieve high recovery rates while minimizing environmental impact.
